Rock and raft

Climb in the morning, raft in the afternoon. do it all!

Rock and Raft Overview

Why pick an activity when you can fill your day with exploration and adventure. With our Rock and Raft adventures you spend your morning with us climbing at one of our favorite local crags, X-Rock. Then after 4 hours climbing we hand you off to our partners at Mountain Waters to take you on a white water adventure through the heart of Durango, CO. A ropes and rapids adventure strikes the perfect balance of leisure and adventure and after a hot day on the rock, the cool splash of water on your face is hard to beat. No experience is required and this program is designed to be welcome to all ages. Floating down through Durango in the evening light with enough time to dry off and enjoy the evening festivities after a full day of adventure is something you will never forget. But don’t take our word for it, experience it for yourself.

Activities for the Day

Climbing

To beat the heat we will spend the first half of the day climbing at a favorite Durango climbing spot, X-Rock. Visible from highway 550 and only minutes north of town, X-Rock has an easy approach, climbing for all ages and abilities, and shaded areas at the base to lounge while you aren’t climbing on the wall. Our AMGA educated & trained guides will provide all the necessary climbing equipment and tailor the climbing experience to your group.

Rafting

Shortly after we wrap up climbing, we will head over to the put-in for the river portion of your day. As the afternoon temperatures begin to rise we will hand you over to the very capable guides at Mountain Waters rafting to begin getting you ready to get on the river. The town stretch of the Animas river takes about 4 hours, is a mixture of flat water and class 3 rapids, and takes you straight through the heart of downtown Durango. With a finish navigating the popular Durango white water park, you will disembark your rafts in the evening light with enough time to enjoy the evening festivities in Durango.

where we will meet

After your booking is confirmed your guide for the first half of the day will contact you to coordinate a meeting location. After the climbing portion of the day wraps up we will take you to the put-in location to be sure everyone has a seamless and enjoyable experience.
