Summit two 13ers peaks close to Silverton!
Sultan Peak is one of the prominent peaks seen from downtown Silverton. Standing at 13,375 feet, the summit is towering over its immediate neighbors. This out and back trip is good for intermediate hikers as Class 2 climbing will be encountered, if you would like to add more there is an option to add Grand Turk (13,167 feet) for some more Class 2 fun.
Starting from Molas Pass this trip is 7.7 miles and 3600 feet including Grand Turk. This trail is a mix of trail and off trail hiking and route finding. Some of the best views in the San Juan Mountains can be seen from these ridges. During the summer months, the alpine flowers cover the valley below and the rocks in the cliffs change colors from red to gray and even white. Come enjoy the beauty and take home a memory!
