Explore the San Juan mountains with us on an overnight backpacking trip!

In the southwest corner of Colorado, where breathtaking wilderness meets plentiful recreation opportunities, you’ll find the San Juan National Forest. Measuring 120 miles from east to west and 60 miles from north to south, the nearly 2-million-acre San Juan National Forest has been protected as public land since 1905. Over time, the area has become a destination for outdoor recreation and wilderness adventures, giving visitors access to a handful of 14,000-foot summits, scenic wilderness areas, and cultural and historical treasures.

The San Juan National Forest is a great location if you’re planning to go backpacking, camping, or just for a day hike. With terrain ranging from high-desert mesas to alpine peaks, there are miles of scenic back roads, hundreds of campsites, and a lifetime of trails to explore. If you haven’t yet explored the San Juan National Forest, add it to your plans, as it rewards all who explore with stunning views and lifelong wanderlust to return to this land of wilderness bliss.
