Learn the critical skills of companion rescue for the backcountry
Whether you are a novice to backcountry skiing or an experienced rider, we all get rusty when we don’t regularly practice critical skills. Our AIARE Companion Rescue Course was designed as a yearly refresher to help backcountry travelers keep their skills sharp as they move from summer back to navigating avalanche terrain.
New participants will learn the basics of companion rescue, while returning participants will expand their skill set with advanced topics and realistic scenario practice to help improve their skills after the course.
Course Topics Include
- Construction of a rescue sled
- Advanced beacon searches and complex rescue scenarios
- What to do in multiple burial situations
- Considerations for an organized rescue
This course is a prerequisite for all AIARE Avalanche 2 Courses.
