Learn Ski Mountaineering in the mighty San Juans
Over three days our guides will take you to classic San Juan ski lines and teach you everything you need to know to ski classic lines like the Coors Face on Wilson Peak, the Snake Couloir on Mt. Sneffels, and the Elevator Shaft on Mt. Sultan.
You will receive hands-on training in advanced tour planning, avalanche hazard mitigation, steep skiing/riding techniques, and several more pro techniques that will keep you comfortable when the going gets steep.
Based out of the comfort of the Addie S Cabin you will solidify and expand your skills with modern tools and techniques, so you can feel confident in engaging any terrain. The goal by the end of the course; if it can hold snow, you can ski it.
You will Learn
- Steep snow and low angle ice climbing in ski boots
- A variety of rappel methods on Snow, ice, and rock anchors
- Belayed skiing
- Advanced tour planning
- Advanced avalanche hazard identification and management
- Steep skiing/riding technique
- Modern equipment considerations
Based at Addie S Cabin, Red Mountain Pass, CO with day trips to classic big mountain San Juan ski lines.
5:1 skier to guide ratio
Skiers/riders should be in good physical condition, and confident/comfortable on their method of snow travel (backcountry touring skis or splitboard)
Shred big lines, rest in comfort
Bask in the glory of the day on Addie S patio with a cold beer, no guarantees though; springtime snowstorms could bring fresh powder making the patio experience a cold one. In that case, relax in the warm hut with a home-cooked meal and cup of hot chocolate. This is a premium experience, we will take care of everything so you can stay well-rested and focused on mountaineering.
