Whether you are a seasoned ice climber looking to refine your already established skills or a total beginner learning how to swing your tool in the most efficient way, San Juan Expeditions has you covered. With access to multi-pitch alpine ice in Silverton or a more single pitch oriented experience in Cascade Canyon (Durango) our guides spend the time to educate our guests so they walk away with skills to use on their personal objectives. SJE guides are AMGA trained and educated to provide you the highest standards of instruction. Work with our team to curate a tailored experience that you wont soon forget.

SJE runs ice climbing trips and courses around the towns of Durango and Silverton, CO. From introductory weekend ice climbing classes to challenging mixed climbing clinics, let SJE design a custom program to help you build your skills for a lifetime of enjoyment on the ice.
Silverton
Just north of Silverton is the historic mining town of Eureka. These climbs are Colorado classics, many being over 6 pitches and 1200′ tall! Some of our favorites include:
- Stairway to Heaven – WI4 – 1200′
- Whorehouse Hoses – WI5 – 600′
- First Gully – WI3 – 600′
- Second Gully – WI3 – 800′
- Goldrush – WI4 – 600′

where we will meet
When you are assigned a guide they will reach out to you and share with you the preferred meeting location depending on your selected ice climbing location. Depending on where you are staying and where you have chosen to climb you can expect to drive for no more than an hour to get to the climbing location.

Anyone participating in our programs must fill out a waiver beforehand. If you are under 18, please have your parent/guardian complete it.
